Medical review policy

Who checks our tools, and what the "Last reviewed" line on each page means.

What "Last reviewed" means today

Each tool shows a line like "Last reviewed October 26, 2026 by the Dental Health Time editorial team, against the sources above." It means our editorial team checked every number and statement on that page against the listed sources on that date, and ran the tool's tests.

It does not mean a dentist reviewed the page. We won't claim clinical review that hasn't happened.

Licensed reviewers

We plan to add licensed dental professionals as reviewers. When a dentist, hygienist or pediatric dentist reviews a page, the byline will show:

  • their full name and credentials (for example DDS, DMD or RDH)
  • the state where they are licensed
  • the date they reviewed the page

We will never use invented names, stock photos or credentials we can't verify.

What reviewers check

  • That the tool applies the published guidance correctly
  • That the safety information (red flags, when to call a dentist) is complete and clear
  • That the wording can't be mistaken for a diagnosis
